What happens when a 230V dc series motor supplied by 230V ac?

it will not run

What does 230V stand for?

230 Volt

Do i need to switch circuit breaker since i went from 115V well pump to 230V well pump it is also a higher HP pump but pressure is lower than before?

The 230v breaker is 2-pole, The 115v is only single-pole so YES you need a new breaker. DON'T use 2 single-pole breakers instead. The well pump will run to the pressure setting of the pressure switch controlling it, regardless of HP. The difference might be in the size of the pump in flow rating, I.E. a 1/2 HP pump rated at 10gpm @ 70 psi won't perform the same as a 3/4 HP pump rated at 20 gpm @ 50 psi. Check the pump curve and pressure switch setting. The pressure switch for the new pump will need both power leads connected to the switch (1 lead per contact set), not 1 wire as the 115v motor was.

Any advantages in wiring a single speed pool pump 230V vs 115V electrician says cheaper to wire 115V?

Your electrician is correct on this. However, the pump is designed for 230V and will use less electricity, thus saving money if wired for 230V. Yeah, if you have to rewire for 230 V then it would be more expensive until your savings had consumed or offset the expense.

What is the difference between 125V 15A fuse and 230V 15A fuse?

The voltage rating of a fuse (in this case 125V or 230V) defines the maximum circuit voltage that the fuse is safe to be used on. A fuse with a voltage rating of 125V should not be used in a circuit with a voltage greater than 125V. If a 125V fuse were installed in a 230V circuit and an overload current occurred, the fuse could explode.

How do I wire a single phase 120 amp 230 volt flux and mig welder to a 200 amp panel?

It is very likely that the 120A current you quote is the output current. Check your Welder Box and look at the input current. It is likely around 30 Amps. To wire a 30A circuit you will need 10 gauge wire and it is likely 3 conductots + ground. You will need a 230V Breaker. Connect the black and red wires from the 10 gauge cable to the breaker, white wire to neutral and ground to ground.

Can you plug a 230v welder into your household socket 240v?

its ok..i found out that it can be done, as long as its not turned up to use more than 130amp.:)

Will two 110v 20amp breaker give me what I need to make up a 230v 30 amp breaker?

No. The amps must be 30 on each leg and the toggles must be rigged so that if one trips then both trip. It is best to buy the correct 230 V breaker at 30 amps.

Can PVC bell wire be operated at 230v?

No bell wire is not meant to be 230V.

Can you apply 230v directly to the strip of 16LED?

Would not recommend it. If you don't want to blow out your lights (yes, LED lights can do that too), you need to neck the current down to the recommended amperage for that light system, which is going to require a fuse or circuit breaker. Also, you need to have the appropriate voltage going to it.. 230v seems a bit high for just a 16 LED light system.

What happened if you connect 230V to secondary of transformer whose voltage rating is 230V to 18V?

if you drove the 18V winding with 230V the transformer would burn out, if it didn't catch fire first

You have an equipment rated for 230V 14 FLA and you have it connected to a 20A circuit breaker. you just noticed that is now connected to a 30A circuit breaker. how would this affect your equipment?

If the motor starts without tripping the breaker and when the motor picks up the load and the breaker doesn't trip, just leave it. Code states that motors should be protected by 2.5 times the FLA to allow for start up inrush current which can go as high as 300%. In this case 14 x 2.5 = 35 amps. There not being a breaker of that size go to the next highest, that being a 40 amp breaker. The motor should have additional overload protection on the circuit set to the FLA of the motor and not depend on the breaker to provide overload protection.

How do you get 1 phase 230V from 3 phase 230V?

I depends on what you are connecting to it but you only need 1 of the phases providing you can get to a neutral
