22mm or 7/8ths
u will need a 13 r 14 metric socket and also a open end wrench of the same size. because of bolts on other side of bracket. don't forget to remove heat shield, oxygen sensors and oil filter. make it very easy to remove. should take about 30 min. u also will need a 1" open end wrench to remove oxygen sensor
cut the wires off the old one and use a six point socket to remove and replace with an open end wrench
and open ended wrech an open ended wrench
use an Allen wrench not a socket or open or box wrench.
I think that is a 14 mm open wrench, not Allen.
With a 13/16 open end wrench.
do not remove the emission control. you need that for fuel economy and does NOT effect performance. at wide open throttle the emissions control - o2 sensors, are not used it goes into open loop and the egr is closed. catalytic converters do not restrict the exhaust.
With a wrench..7-8 open end.
5th gen o2 sensor replacement answerWell all you need is a 22mm wrench and some anti -seize grease. Those are the items you will need. There are only 2 o2 sensors, one bofore the catalytic converter and one located at the cat itself. Find out which one is messed up and remove by inserting the open end side of the wrench onto the sensor and REMEMBER LEFTY LUCIE RIGHTY TIGHTY. Remove it and take the new sensor and put sup grease on the threads hand tighten it till u cannot anymore and then tighten it down with the wrench a little over snug tight. And that is it you are done!
It depends on which sensor you're working on (front or rear, and which engine size V6 or V8). It could be either the standard threaded type with the 7/8" hex, or the type with a flange that is held in place with bolts/nuts. If the sensor you're working on is the standard type without a flange, you can use an open-end 7/8" wrench if you have room. If not, there are special oxygen sensor sockets (with a slit at the side so the wires don't get pinched) you can use with an extension and ratchet. For the flange type sensors, all you would need is a socket (probably 12mm)or an open-end wrench if there's enough clearance.
There are two. To trace these looks for the yellow fire resistant wrapped wires at the firewall at back of engine compartment. The front O2 sensor runns from there to the a point below on the exhaust manifold and seat in just at the "throat" of the Cat converter. The "rear " O2 sensor continues down and is seated "after" the Cat Converter. Gat the O2 sensor removal wrench and open end wrench much like a plummers faucet wrench that will access the O2 sensors. Makes the job that must easeier to remove the O2 sensors.
The oil pressure switch is located between the carburetor and the firewall on top of the engine. You will need a 9/16 open end SHORTY wrench to remove it.
