How do you take the tension off of the serpentine belt on a 1996 Chevy Corsica?

On my 94, the tension bar is between the passenger wheel well and the motor, towards the bottom. Use a wrench to lift the tension bar, and the belt should loosen up. On my 95 Corsica 2.2 4cyl, the tension pulley is DOWN and to the LEFT of the alternator pulley. The space in between the bolt on the pulley and the side of the engine compartment is to small for a socket. I used a box wrench and turned CLOCKWISE.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1995 Chevy Tahoe?

The first thing to do is disconnect the battery from the truck. Then you will need to lossen the belt off the enginge. In order to go that their should be a tension puller on the front that a simple rachet and socket will do. you turn that till it lossens the belt and slide it off the alternator. If it doesn't have tension pulley then the alternator has a bolt that you lossen it to get the belt off. After you get the belt off you need to dissconect the wires on the back of the alternator then you can take the two bolts out of the alternator and simple pull it off.

How to change the serpenten belt on a 94 Buick LaSabre?

Hey there. There is a tensioner pulley just to the left of the alternator and a little below it.it has a bolt in the middle that if you put a large socket on it and crank it counterclockwise until it lifts upward and relieves tension on the belt you then (while you are still cranking on tension pulley ) just slide the belt off of the alternatoer and other pulleys . ..

How do you replace the serpentine belt on 1992 Buick Century 3.3l?

pull the tensioner to relieve the tension and slip the belt over the alternator pulley. The tensioner is a spring-loaded pulley below the alternator. The tensioner takes a special tool that fits into a square hole in the side of it. Or you can use an 18 mm socket on the tensioner's pulley bolt. Follow the decal near the right front corner of the engine compartment to route the new belt.

Where can you find installation instructions for the alternator on a 97 GMC Sierra?

If you buy a new alternator there should be instructions included in the box, but if not and I remember correctly all you have to do is take the belt off, and then there are just 4 bolts (1 on each corner) holding the alternator on.AnswerYou can look in any chiltons or haynes manual for removal and installation for this procedure. glynn hawleycincinnati, ohI have just recently changed my alternator on my 97 GMC K1500 truck. First off there are two types of alternator selections. With or without a black plastic cap on the back of the alternator. The most common is with the cap. Generally the alternators without the cap on the back are used for commericial vechiles. The first thing you need to do is to disconnect the battery, negative first always. then the positive. Once that is done you need to release the tension on the belt. Directly below the alternator there is a tension pulley that you need move to release the tension. I have found that a socket wrench without a socket works nicely. On the tension pulley there is a square indentation the socket fits nicely into that, then all you have to do is push down to release tension to slip the belt off the alternator. Once that's done remove the bolts holding the alternator in place, mine only had two bolts. Once those are removed there are two wires that need to be taken off. One is connected to the positive cable of the battery and connects to the back of the alternator witha simple bolt. The other wire is a plug with a clip that you just pop off. Easy enough...get new alternator an reverse these steps..reconnect all wires to alternator, bolt in place. Bring tension pulley back up with socket wrench to slip the belt back on the alternator.
