would like to know how to remove & refit the oil filter on my 1600cc C4 the filter is a type I have never used before it it is not the old type metal canister screw on type. The filter housing appears to be made of plastic and the new filter I have is a new paper type filter that fits inside the plastic housing. the housing doesn't appear to have any clips holding it on and I am unsure how to remove it so I can change it. There are no clips. But there is a large hex head moulded into the top of the rubber covered cap. Unscrew the whole body by turning the hex nut with a socket. The paper filter then just pulls out of the cap that you removed. http://citroenc3owners.com/citroen-c3-tools/topic8.html
Which filter housing? Air filter, oil filter, fuel filter?
The filter is in a filter housing. Remove the plug in the bottom of the housing. The filter housing is then loosened using a specific wrench for that housing type.
The diesel engine Citroen C3 have the fuel filter located in the engine bay, under the air intake pipe to the air filter. There are some pictures on this forum post: http://citroenc3owners.com/diesel-c3-tips/how-to-change-the-air-filter-on-a-citroen-c3-1-4-16v-hdi-t80.html and some instructions to remove the diesel filter here: http://citroenc3owners.com/diesel-citroen-c3/changing-the-diesel-fuel-filter-t102.html The petrol engine Citroen C3 has a filter in the fuel tank that lasts the life of the car.
on the 1.6 HDI diesel engine, it's located under a black plastic housing on the right side about half way down. There's a big nut cast into the top of the housing that you undo (carefully) with a socket wrench. You will probably have to remove the top air intake hose to gain access to the housing. Once the housing is removed give the filter a sharp tug to remove it - it's not fixed by anything. Replace with a new filter and sealing washer.
