Depending on how many hermit crabs you have and how big they are, get a tank that fits the following:

  • A hide out big enough for all your crabs to sleep in (with some extra room)

  • Food & water dishes (2-3 dishes total)

  • Hermit crab snacks (found in pet stores, only buy snacks made for hermit crabs)

  • Toys! (such as climbing logs or hollowed out coconut shells. found in pet stores in the hermit crab or lizard section)

  • Extra shells, bigger than the ones your crabs already have (found in pet stores)

Plus extra room for your crabs to run around and play.

A 10g tank makes a good starter, but remember that the crabs will grow, very fast in the case of small crabs. I would rather start with a 20g or something even bigger. They should be kept in groups, they need room to walk and climb and you will need room to put in two water dishes (salt and fresh), climbing toys, hiding places and at least three shells per crab. That takes up a lot of room and you don't want the crabitat to look cramped.
You must also consider that hermit crabs will grow to an impressive size after a few years. A medium sized crab will reach the size of a small apple in a surprisingly short time and PPs (Coenobita clypeatus) can reach the size of a coconut (other species stay a bit smaller). So if you do everything right, your crabs will stay with you for decades and will need something a lot bigger than a 20g after a while.
Bigger tanks make it easier for you to keep humidity and temperature stable, by the way, and you can create different "climate zones" so that the crabs can choose what temperature and humidity they want.

The general rule would be two small (smaller than a Golf ball) hermit crabs in a ten-gallon tank. I would keep no more than four golf ball sized in a 20-gallon long. Never keep a hermit crab alone, they are very social animals.

One gallon of space per hermie, the bigger the better.

Also the substrate should be 2 to 3 times taller than your largest hermit crab, because they molt and will need to dig underground to do that.

maybe 2 gallon . But a 10 gallon would be better. You can comfortably house 2-4 small crabs in a ten gallon. If you plan on having less, a 5 gallon would work.

You should probably get a 10-15 gallon tank; but 15 would be better. A general rule of thumb: 1-2 gallons for each hermit crab.

You cant have a circle bowl, that wouldn't work, so make sure to get a rectangle. It needs to be at least 25cm long.

How big of a tank do you neeed for a water hermit crab?

Are there places that you can take your hermit crab to meet other hermit crabs?

Well if you have a friend who lives close and has hermit crabs then when you are hanging out at each others houses you could bring your hermit crab with you and put it in their tank. (You need a little moving tank. The very small ones with a little handle on the top.) But when you leave you need to bring your hermit crab with you. ~EEE2

How often does a hermit crab change shells?

When ever a hermit crab grows out of its old shell it finds a new one to call home. There is no set amount of times a hermit crab will change its shells. The hermit crab will only change shells if it has grown to big for its original one. Otherwise, the hermit crab will not change shells. It all depends on the hermit crab's growth rate and size.

When does a hermit crab need a new shell?

You must always have a spare larger shell for a hermit crab as they have no natural shell of their own. Just place a larger shell in the tank and if the crab does not use it straight away, don't worry, it eventually will do as they need larger ones as they grow.
