most Chevy trucks from 1989 to 1998 have the TH-700 R4 that's the most common one i have seen in them but i have also heard that there are some that have either the 4L60E, or the 4L80E but either way they are all 4 speed automatics the 4L80E is the best it is used in heavy duty trucks like the 3500. and i think they used the 4L60E in the 2500 and maybe in newer 1500's (newer meaning 1999 and up) but like i said im not too sure what autos they used. mine is a manual 5-speed
it is a 700r4
