This depends on what part of China you visit! You can get typical souvenirs like T-shirts everywhere. Some really good souvenirs would be arts and crafts specific to the area you travel to. Try to check out little local shops instead of the ones selling shirts and keychains! The best souvenirs are the things you discover that nobody else back home would have.
