1. (If you mean limbo as in the dance) The word 'limbo' as used to denote a form of dance only dates back to the 1950s. Limbo is a West Indian English derivative of 'limber'. Limber is a sixteenth century word used in the dialectical sense to refer to a cart shaft, alluding to its to and fro motion. "Consistent with certain African beliefs, the dance reflects the whole cycle of life". "The dancers move under a pole that is gradually lowered from chest level, and they emerge on the other side, as their heads clear the pole, as in the triumph of life over death". This dance is also used as a funeral dance and may be related to the African legba or legua dance.2. In Roman Catholic theology, Limbo (Latin limbus, edge or boundary, referring to the "edge" of Hell) is an idea about the afterlife condition of those who die in original sin without being assigned to the Hell of the damned.
Voodoo, first and foremost, is a religion based around ancestor worship. There are a few primary gods (such as the ever popular Papa Legba or Baron Samhedi) who sort of lead things, but most of it is making sacrifices of food, drink and other presents to ancestors to grant you requests. While there is some sympathetic magic employed (the notorious "voodoo doll") it plays a very minor roll in the general practices.
