Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas seceded from the Union when Abraham Lincoln became president.

After Lincoln called for volunteers to end the Southern rebellion, four more states left the Union.

These were Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Arkansas.
