Animal cells respire in order to refresh the blood cells with oxygen rich molecules. The oxygen is then transported to the rest of the body for muscle use.
Oxygen is needed for aerobic respiration in the mitochondria in our cells. Therefore, it would be reasonable to assume that the cells which respire most need the most oxygen ie. our muscles. The muscles need far more oxygen relative to other systems in our body, due to the fact that they respire most. This is especially true during rigorous exercise.
Red blood cells absorb oxygen and release carbon dioxide at lungs which was absorbed from other cells in the body during blood circulation, then it releases oxygen to those body cells in order to respire and release energy .
