Why did the cold war never turn in to world war three?

M.A.D- mutually assured destruction. Since both Superpowers (USSR and USA) had a nuclear weapon, they knew that if one will attack the other, both atomic bombs would have been fired and they would have destroyed the world. Therefore, they fought in Arm race, Space race and Proxy wars (wars fought by smaller countries on the behalf of the superpowers). Also, in the Cold war there were no actual fighting between the USSR and the USA. Hope it helped :)

What are the similarities and differences between World War 1 and world war 2?

they were both bloody wars and they both had a lot of countries envolved but the big difference is that war world 1 was mainly fought in trenches (trench warfare) and they only fought in Europe but in war world 2 they did not fight mainly in trenches and there were battles all over the world not just Europe and the war world 1 planes did not have covered cockpits and they had three winged and two winged aircraft and the world war two planes were single winged on both sides.
