It depends how early the church will let you get in, maybe there's a wedding, funeral or church service right before your wedding. Also are you getting ready at the church or somewhere else? Personally I'd want to get ready at the church if they had nice facilities and I'd get there 3 hours early, that means 2:00pm. Allowing myself 1 hour for hair, 1 hour for make-up, 30 minutes for pre-wedding pictures, because I dont care about seeing the groom before the ceremony and the rest of the time to get dressed and hang out with my bridesmaids.

Is it ok to party right up until the wedding as long as the groom gets to the church on time?

Seems kind of immature and disrespectful to his bride. Party the week before, party at the reception. Be on time and sober at the wedding. The Hangover is just a movie not reality.

That's just superstition, and superstition doesn't have to have a reason or to make sense. It's only a superstition, but it takes away from the groom's anticipation of seeing his bride in a wedding dress for the first time as she's walking down the aisle.

What is a wedding garder?

Wedding garters are decorative bands of fabric and elastic that a bride wears on her right thigh underneath her wedding gown. Often, near the end of the wedding reception, the groom will remove the garter from the bride's leg and toss it to the single male guests. This usually happens at the same time as the bride's bouquet toss to the single female guests. Sometimes bride's will even wear two garters at once. One to be tossed, and one that becomes a keepsake. For a little historical background, wedding garters began as a European tradition in the 14th century when people believed that owning a piece of the bride's clothing would give them good luck.
