Drain some out, either by removing the pan, or by disconnecting the line to the rad and running it in Park.
yes, it will affect the transmission.
It'll get oily...
Too much transmission fluid in the transmission can cause the transmission seals to leak. The transmission builds up pressure when going down the road. The added pressure can blow up they seals.
You shouldn't be asking this question. If you are unsure if you have too much oil, drain it and add only 4 quarts. Running too much oil in a motor can ruin it.
Not enough transmission oil, too much transmission oil, bad transmission oil, a clogged breather... all are possibilities.
You should make sure that you only add what is allowed to fill a transmission. Overfilling can cause damage to the seals inside the transmission and leaks can occur.
This must be done from underneath the car. Should be a plug on the side of the transmission that can be removed to check the level. The gear oil is usually 90 weight - thicker than engine oil. Follow manufacturers guidelines for the amount you add. Too much gear oil is just as bad as not enough. Best to have an experienced mechanic do this ... could save you thousands on a rebuild if things go wrong.
If you put too much oil in any vehicle, Do not drive it. Unless, it is just to get it to a jiffy lube, midas, or somewhere they can change oil. Too much or too little oil in your vehicle can cause many serious and expensive problems. A few years ago I had made the same mistake and my transmission needed to be replaced for $2800.00. Not an inexspensive repair.
There is not too much oil in Russia.
Oil is too sticky and too thick, pump not functioning properly.
under your hood, not too far from where you check your oil dipstick, there is an orange handle with a cylindrical base. this is the dipstick for your transmission fluid. check it as you check the oil dipstick. it has the levels printed on it. if you need to add more pour it in through the dipstick hole with a funnel. however, if you do need more be sure to check for leaks as there should rarely be a reason to add more unless you are completely changing your transmission fluid.
No the lubrication systems are separate. The manual transmission uses gear oil.
