Hi,
I have a 99 Venture, and this exact situation happened to me while on vacation.
I was lucky to find a very nice Ford dealership who quickly diagnosed the problem - fuel pump not delivering fuel. It seems as though a "pass through" connector under the vehicle which supplies the fuel pump voltage, had its fair share of corrosion. If you look beneath the van, beside the driver's side sliding door, you will see a 2 plugs. Take them off and examine them for corrosion - if you will see the tell-tale green colour (oxidized copper), give them a good cleaning. In my case, they were so badly corroded, that the pins (both male and female) had to be replaced - that meant removing all but the 2 front seats, rolling up carpet to just behind the driver, and working on the plugs there. The Chev dealer would not sell me the connectors, but I found a automotive place that sold me "Packard Connectors" (packs of 10, $5 each). Disconnect battery, replace old connectors, give the leads a coat of solder just to tin them, and use some plummer's putty when re-assembling the "pass through. Make sure you make a sketch of the wiring pattern and their respective colours.
Good Luck.
try the distributor module . may not be getting fire.
Test for fuel pressure, the fuel pump may be bad.
The fire wall is located between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment.
Check the ignition coil located on the top left side of the motor, mine went bad and I found one for $5 at the junk yard.
Just did my daughters 98. I removed the coil pack on the back top of the engine. The rest was done in the braille method. Feel, but no see. bob
bad fuel pump
my 1997 pathfider cranks but will not fire.
This is not a good descripton of the problem. Cranks? you mean the starter works? But the engine is not ? Yes, it stalled...and now it acts like it wants to turn over (cranks), but will not start. The starter does work. The engine will not fire up and run. The battery has ample voltage and amperage. Could an "overheating" problem cause this...wouldn't it start up after it cooled down if it overheated? Thanks for the help.
It is the ECC relay! It is the ECC relay!
There are several reasons why a 1996 Achieva engine cranks but will not fire. A few of the reasons could be a bad ignition control module, ignition coil pack, or a crankshaft position sensor.
