This is a very big job, and if you choose to do this by yourself you should invest in a repair manual, second if you are an impaitent person, you should not do this!! and it would also be helpful if you had a hydraulic vehicle lift to raise the vehicle off the ground, if not then you will need a engine hoist, or at least two hydraulic floor jacks. and of coarse, tools.
It is a sign that your transmission is about to go out, unless you have all the tools i would suggest shop time.
Buddy, you need a shop manual on your car and good tools for this job. The manual will explain everything in details with pictures too.
50$ if you do it your self which isn't to hard baring you have the right tools. mostly a 36mm socket to remove cv nut, free at autozone. good luckk
Common hand tools, sockets and wrenches. Nothing special.
The original owner's manual along with the tools were located in front of the battery compartment underneath the seat. Access to the compartment is by removing the right cover underneath the seat.
P1738 means TCM 2nd Pressure Switch Circuit Malfunction. This is an Automatic Transmission problem. It takes special tools to diagnose this problem. Seek help from a Honda Dealer or independent who has the knowledge and tools to repair this. Stay away from chain transmission repair shops. Stop driving the car until you get this repaired or you may ruin the A/T.
One can purchase transmission tools from Amazon or CarsDirect. eBay also offer some transmission tools and many car retailers also offer that type of tools.
First you need a manual for that transmission. It will most likely be a 4L60E or 4L80E transmission but I can not know for sure with the information provided. I know it's a Chevy since only Chevy offered the Z-71 package but would need the model info to know what transmission it has for sure. Any auto parts store can help you find the right manual for your transmission. Second you need all the clutch packs, gaskets, seals and other parts required to do the rebuild. Third you will need special tools to compress certain parts in the transmission plus the standard tools most mechanics have. Forth and most important you will need to understand the manual for that transmission and know how to reassemble it properly. It is easy to damage the parts if you have never rebuilt a transmission and don't know what you are doing.
manual transmissions are sealed and you cant do it like u would for a automatic. take it to the shop or somewhere that has the proper tools. also if it is a high milage trans buy changing the fulid u cause more problems then what its worth.
