These three routes are seriously inconvenient, but they're the only options I see. The first one requires you to make only one transfer, but you have to go into Manhattan.

The second option requires you to make two transfers, but you don't have to go into Manhattan. But you can't take this route from 11 PM to 5:30 AM.

The third option also requires two transfers, and again, you don't have to go into Manhattan. But you can only take this route at night.

Route 1

Take the Uptown (Manhattan-bound) A or Ctrains (of the A-C-E, the blue line) from Broadway Junction to West 4th Street (in Manhattan).

Transfer at West 4th Street to the Downtown(Brooklyn-bound) D train (of the B-D-F-M, the orange line) to New Utrecht Avenue-62nd Street.

Route 2

Take the Uptown (Manhattan-bound) A or Cfrom Broadway Junction to Jay Street-Metrotech.

Transfer at Jay Street-Metrotech to the Downtown(Brooklyn-bound) R train, and take the R to 36th Street.

Transfer at 36th Street to either the Downtown N or the Downtown D to New Utrecht Avenue-62nd Street.

Unfortunately, the R train does not stop at Jay Street-Metrotech from 11 PM to 5:30 AM. So if you are traveling during those times, you will have to either take Route 1 (into Manhattan) or Route 3.

Route 3

Take the Uptown A or C from Broadway Junction to Jay Street-Metrotech, and transfer at Jay Street-Metrotech to the Downtown F.

Take the Downtown F to 4th Avenue-9th Street, and transfer at 4th Avenue-9th Street to the Downtown D.

Take the Downtown D to New Utrecht Avenue-62nd Street.

There is night service only on the D to 4th Avenue-9th Street, so you can't take this route during the day.

Walking directions from the New Utrecht Avenue-62nd Street Station:

You will get off the subway on New Utrecht Avenue. Walk two blocks north on New Utrecht Avenue until you get to 60th Street. Turn left and walk west on 60th Street. Your destination is on the next block, between 13th and 12th Avenues.

How best to walk from Brooklyn Bridge to Macy's Herald Square?

The simplest way would be to walk west to Broadway, and then walk north on Broadway to 34th Street. Macy's is at 34th Street and Broadway. The foot of the Brooklyn Bridge is at City Hall Park, and Broadway forms the western border of City Hall Park. When you get to 14th Street-Union Square, Broadway's path is broken by Union Square Park. Broadway cuts off at the southeast corner of the park (at 14th Street), and its path resumes at the northwest corner of the park (at 17th Street). So you have to walk through the park or around it to get back onto Broadway.
