Take the Uptown E train (of the A-C-E, the blue line) from 34th Street-Penn Station to Lexington Avenue-53rd Street. This station is connected to the 51st Street Station on the 6 train (of the 4-5-6, the dark green line), so you can transfer without exiting the subway system. Transfer to the 6, and take the Downtown 6 to 33rd Street, 28th Street, 23rd Street or 14th Street. All of these stops are on Park Avenue South.
It is 20-25 minutes in train 1 to south ferry
Park Avenue is about half a mile east of Penn Station.
You take the subway to New York City Penn Station. Then you get on a Northeastern Regional train going south to Philadelphia. Trains leave Penn Station regularly.

What are you talking about? If you mean the 6th Avenue trains, they stop one long block away at 34 St and 6th Avenue. If you mean the #6 train, it stops about 7/8 of a mile away at 33 St. and Park Avenue South. Neither stops right in Penn Station. Only the 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue trains do that.

Personal opinion- I do not consider Newark safe for seniors. Period.
New York Penn Station
New York does not have that many parking spots up around Penn Station. Try using a parking deck around the station entrance for easier movement in and around traffic.
