a 3.0 lt will fit you just have to change the bell houseing
what would transmission not to shift in to overdrive
That Is The Way Overdrive on your vehicle is designed to operate. Consider Yourself Lucky, You Are Not Overloading The Transmission By It Not Shifting Into Overdrive Until 45 MPH If It Shifted Into OD At A Lower Speed Say 25 to 30 MPH It Would Put Too Much Load On The Transmission That Most Likely It Would Fail Before Long.
I believe that begining in about 1993, the transmission came electronically controlled. At a minimum, the valve body would have to be changed. It is better to find a unit form a 1990 to 1992. 1989 and earliers had a different shift linkage. The bellhousings are different between 2.9L and 3.0L engines. The pump is part of the bellhousing, therefore some disassembly of transmission is required. DO NOT attempt this if you are not familar with transmissions!
the overdrive sencer
The overdrive transmission that a 1992 Chevrolet C3500 would have is a 4L80E. It is a series of automatic transmissions from General Motors.
Your transmission might automatically shift out of overdrive while driving on the interstate because of low transmission fluid. This issue might also occur because of a bad transmission sensor or overdrive sensor.
the 351M/400M Ford motor has the big block bellhousing bolt pattern, like the 460 and 429 engines. So any overdrive transmission would need to have the Ford Big Block bolt pattern or you will need an adaptor. I do not believe Ford built any overdrive transmission for the Big Blocks. So I don't think there are any direct bolt ons The Ford AOD is a Ford Overdrive transmission that may be used but an adaptor plate and other modifications will have to be made. The GM 700R4 is a good overdrive transmission but would definitely require an adaptor plate.
There is no direct fit. There is no direct fit.
the only thing that would be diffrent is the overdrive.
It shows that there is a problem with the transmission. Just like the check engine light, the overdrive light has codes that tell you what is wrong with the transmission and the various components connected with it.
The Overdrive Light flashing indicates an internal transmission problem which could be caused by anthiny inside the transmission. Most likely the transmission would have to be removed and taken apart to find the problem.
