Truman's first job was to win WW II. The war in Europe was almost done, but Japan still had to be conquered. He decided to use the A-bomb , which a difficult decision and is still being second-guessed. The end of the war in Europe brought on the problem of Russia moving troops in from the East and refusing to withdraw them in Germany, Austria ,Poland, Czechoslovakia, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, Albania and elsewhere, which led to the long cold war and an irrational fear of communism . In Asia he had to deal with the fall of China and then the Korean War. There were problems in the domestic economy as a result of the war and its end - shortages, price/wage controls and strikes, particularly in the steel mills. He decided to push for the creation of Israel.
