Why did many Arabs feel mistreated at the end of world war 1?

first off because they were trying and they attempted to seek independence from British and French rule. They were promised independence by the Europeans due to their demand for nationalism. They felt as though they had cooperated enough to where they can now run their own nation i.e it was a time of nationalism all over the world throughout that time. Although the Arabs were promised independence from Europe they never gained the independence that Britain and France promised them and in fact they were not represent as nations. Rather they remained to be occupied by foreign influence. One of the most significant events that sparked rebellion came when the Arab nations assembled their own delegation to become part of the Versailles conference but were denied representation so the aftermath of that sparked much resentment from the Arab countries trying to seek independence. Also it was not within the British and French interest to allow the Arabs a free nation because the middle east was a strategic focal point of British and French influence. The British maintained occupying Egypt due to maintaining their influence on the Suez Canal which was an important place for transportation to where they occupied India. While the British were making concession promises to the Arab nations they were also promising certain Middle Eastern territory to other European nations such as France that was seeking to occupy Syria. They ultimately gave the privilege of other European nations to occupy other territories within the middle east instead of giving Arab nations the independence they had promised them.
