I was looking at the 2002 Lincoln LS Owner Guide and it shows ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) is used in the engine cooling fan fluid reservoir

You can not add fluid to the Jaguar 2000 S-Type as it has a sealed transmission box. It must be taken into a mechanic to have the fluid changed.
According to the 1998 Lincoln Navigator Owner Guide : ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) * the type of fluid used should be engraved in the automatic transmission fluid dipstick or indicated on the dipstick handle *
