Any crowded public gathering, such as church service, sports event, school event or concert, is likely to cause an outbreak if there are viruses circulating (e.g., during flu season) at the time of the event. The best thing to do to avoid falling victim to that is to get your seasonal flu vaccination as soon as the vaccine is made available each year. Then you can attend this type of event without worry of contracting the flu from others at the venue (as long as you wait long enough after the vaccination to have achieved full immunity before attending the large public event).
