Depends are where you are. Different countries have different types of houses because of where they are. In Germany they are often two stories and each story is a whole house. Two families live in it. One on the top floor and one on the bottom. There is a little hall where the front door is and stair going up to the top floor. In Italy they may have a single story and be more open to the outside since the weather is often pretty mild in many parts of Italy. Down in Sicily some are two stories and seem to sit on the edge of a mountain, yet there are some on the coast the are low and flat. In England there is a combination. A lot are two story and seem rather narrow inside. You walk into one and there are rooms off to each side and you face a narrow stairway going up to rooms. Many houses in Europe have doors on each room because they don't heat the whole house with central heat like we do in the States. They heat each room and close the doors to keep the room warm. In Germany it is usually the "kitchen room."

The typical house in Greece is white washed with a red terra-cotta roof. However, there are also many houses in Greece that do not fit this description.

They look a little like clothed huts and are covered in colored rugs and mats. The frame of the house is made of straw too. So you get this early 1700th year look on it. How weird is that?
