if the mother is dead the baby hamster needs to be introduced to a new mother that has babies of a similar age at the moment, but the mother will kill it if she thinks it isn't hers and to trick her into thinking its hers you must rub her used bedding all over the baby hamster and put it in with her litter.
Goats milk formula would probably be best. A few years ago we had to take care of a baby mouse and our vet told us to use goats milk formula for it. They should be fed each hour, since their size makes them get hungry often. Cows milk is very strong and shouldn't be used as it will damage their digestive organs.
Its best to feed them goats milk, or you can try to find kitten formula cows milk is only for cows, but humans drink it too.
They don't have an alternative for their mother's milk.
Like all mammals, they need their mother's milk to be healthy.
Yes they do. A mother hamster usually feeds the puppies for two weeks after they are born.
A mother hamster has multiple teats on her underbelly. The baby hamsters will latch on to these teats and feed on the mother's milk. After a few weeks the babies will start to eat regular hamster food.
A baby dwarf can be feed with warm milk after birth. My advice is that you should let the mother feed the baby hamster as the hamster is blind & you can't touch. If it does not have a mother feed it fresh milk without touching it.
no because you should not because different hamsters breast feed
Yes, you should. Unless you want your cage to be smelt of death. I left my dead baby hamster for a a few hours to allow the mother and her other babies to feed on the dead baby --- this gives proteins, nutrients and energy to the Mama hamster and keeps her healthy and nourished so that she can feed her babies with enough milk. After that, I removed the dead baby hamster. If you can not tolerate the gruesomeness of it, I suggest you remove it before the guts spill. But, it's good to give the mother more nutrients. (: Hope this helps!
Sadly yes, this usually happens when there is a runt, or if the mother doesn't have enough milk to feed them all.
A baby hamster needs to feed from the mother, it is unable to get sustenance any other way. This usually last for up to three to four weeks.
After your hamster has babies the mother will care for them. The puppies will have no fur and are very small. If a baby strays from the nest the mother will carry it back in her mouth. The mother will feed the hamster from her milk until three weeks. At 5 weeks the puppies arte ready to leave the mother. If the hamster is a syrian this is the age when it must be separtated from its brothers and sisters.
Well I just got a 2 week old hamster and I bought a bag of hamster food or you can feed it carrot and apple.
no
Well if you take away all of her babies then yes she will feel some lonesome and it may cause her to wine, scratch, runny nose. But if you leave at least one baby hamster with her she will not be upset and none of those symtyms above will happen. So i recomend you sell all of them(exept one.)and give the one you have not sold to the mother hamster and take care of her. p.s. you will not have to take care of the baby as much as you take care of the mother because the mother will take care of the baby but do feed her and love her as the mother hamster does. I HOPE I HELPED!!!(: MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Put whatever you're feeding to the baby hamster in an eye dropper or medicine dropper. Don't touch your baby hamster until they are three weeks. The mom will probably do the feeding, though.
