usually mowers call for 30 weight non-detergent oil, but use "straight weight", don't use an oil that begins with "5W" or "10W". . .these will harm your mower

Check your manual - often you can find it online.
My mower uses a common engine (briggs and straton) and it calls for 5-w30 or 10-w30 or SAE 30, or Synthetic 5w30.
It also DOES say IN the manual a DETERGENT OIL is FINE (SF, SG, SH, SJ or higher).
