Teflon tape is good. There is now a teflon liguid sealer also. The old pipe sealer is still good. I used a piece of radio solder last year to seal a water meter joint when I lost the meter seal. Be inventive.

well 1st of all U need to determine the second pc. as a FITTING, and, after that if the two materials r 2 b used together it doesn't really matter. The best way is to stay with the original materials thru out the pipe system, BUT, if need be to make an easier repair then Plastic(PVC schedule 40) is recommended on any type of pressure not to exceed 80 to 125 psi...2 b safe that is. A higher schedule is recommended above 125psi. PS: normal house( water ) pressure is from about 15 to 50 psi...30 psi is normal

Any 100% cotton or poly cotton sewing thread should work well for madras fabric. You should use a dull, neutral color that will blend in with the primary background tone of the madras. You should not use buttonhole twist, basting or quilting thread.
