There will be a light that comes on situated in the dashboard.
This is called the Temperature light or gauge
your thermostat could be wearing out. what happens then is that it wont open until the engine gets abnormally hot, then as the coolant flows through the engine, it gets cooler, and so it closes, then once it gets real hot again, it opens. so on and so forth. steinbacher682@hotmail.com
you have a bad head gasket
Your engine is too hot.
A fan in a car usually starts running as soon as your car engine gets hot enough for it to be of any benefit. This depends on weather, oil level, coolant level and quality and engine speed. Generally, a car in a hot climate with poor oil and coolant and a high running speed gets hotter quicker.
A lot would depend on how long it takes to get hot. Try checking the engine coolant level ,next, check the oil level. Then check the battery.
Engine is Hot, Coolant is not HOThere engine is hot means above the engine operating temperature, Coolant is not hot means coolant in the radiator is not hot and the coolant is below or withing the operating temperature.i think there is no water blow out from the radiator cap if you have this problem then the following will not apply to your case.* water is not circulating through the radiator, either half of the pumped water is circulating through the radiator or another half circulates through the engine block because of thermostat. so please check the engine thermostat for proper function.
Because engine coolant gets hot. It works through heat exchange - coolant goes through the system, absorbs the heat from the engine, passes through the radiator, then rapidly exchanges the heat to the air which passes through the radiator fins.
220 degrease on big cars and v8 engines 240 and over you are running hot smaller v6 and v4s cars may run 180 to220 anything over that and your running hot on average the temp of engine coolant gets from 220-260 before its lubircating and heat dissipating property's start to break down
Look on the side of the coolant overflow bottle. There should be a low mark for the coolant for a cool engine, and one for a hot engine.
WOW. If you have to ask this, you should not be allowed to drive.Either you have little or no oil, low on engine coolant, or possibly have a cracked radiator. Seriously, if the engine is getting FIRST THING TO CHECK IS THE COOLANT LEVEL!!!
i would say if the coolant is getting hot in the engine but not flowing threw the radiator to cool the engine down the thermostat is stuck closed and not letting the fluid pass OR Ive also heard that if a air bubble gets caught in there it wont feel the hot fluid and open to flow the coolant threw the engine im pretty sure in the z31 the thermostat is behind the pulley that goes to the a/c pump you have to take that off and you will see were it goes in the engine i would change that out and see if that fixes it
