God loves us. God loves you. God created us and everything that you can see, hear, smell, taste, and touch. He created everything that is. He wants nothing but good for us. He gave his only son to die for us so that if we believe in him we will live eternally in heaven with him. Now that's special.

Jesus was special, because of several reasons. The first thing is are you willing to believe that he did walk the earth and really is what he is? If you are then here are a couple reasons. Since the Bible is true.

#1: He fulfilled more prophecies in his lifetime than any other prophet in any religion. And fulfills the prophecies about the Messiah.

#2: He selflessly gave himself up for other people, for all people.

#3: He was perfect. He could have come to earth, made a name for himself and done whatever he wanted, He was God on earth. But instead he came to take care of other people being absolelutely perfect.

Jesus is special because He came to earth and lived as a real human flesh and blood person. This means that He understands us, and that we can appreciate the fact that He has lived a human life and died.

His death, makes Him especially great in that He suffered an agonizing death for people who were in a state of rebellion against Him, including His persecutors.

He rose again on the third day, in literal fact and true bodily form (not a ghost or spirit) as a sign of the fact that death could not hold one who is sinless and a symbol of the future rising of those who believe.

Jesus is also special because of the many miracles he performed, such as at the wedding in Cana. no ordinary human being could do any of these miraculous things, therefore it is not magic, it is by the power of God.

He sacrificed Himself for all of us on the holy cross... and one day He will come back to bring us all to heaven (=

AnswerThe faith of billions of Christians. Apart from that there is nothing particularly spectacular about the character in comparison with other such religious figures, but once the ruler of the most powerful empire in the ancient world decided to adopt Christianity and outlaw all other religions it was set to become the most wide spread religion in the world. This is not to suggest that the Roman Adoption is the only reason Christianity spread, but it played a large role in why so many other religions vanished, and it played a large role in the consolidation of Christianity as a major religion. It also played a role in the power struggle between the wildly different early Christian sects, many of which were also eventually outlawed and horribly persecuted.

The below response is rather presumptuous and Christocentric, assuming that Jesus is more important than the figures of other religions such as Krishna. Despite all of the Christian apologetics, the Historicity of Jesus is a hotly debated issue and Christian sects often differ in points of doctrine regarding just who or what Jesus was. For instance some believe that Jesus is Yahweh, some believe he sits at the Right Hand of God, some believe he was a prophet, the only thing they all agree on is that Jesus existed in the flesh and that he was extremely important. What is special about Jesus is that he is venerated by billions of people regardless of what they believe about him.

AnswerThe above response is offensively dismissive of THE most charismatic and influential person the world has ever known.

It is a common error and naive in the extreme to suggest that the Christian Church 'only' spread because of the adoption by the Roman Empire, and shows a total lack of even basic historical knowledge. Whilst this adoption inevitably did help, it is also important to realise that the Church had, by the fourth Century when Constantine adopted Christianity, already spread right across the Empire, against all odds and under severe persecution. It had already spread to India, possibly by the missionary work of Thomas the Apostle, and to Africa, under the guidance of Philip the Apostle and others. It had already spread across the mediterranean area by the First Century AD. There were already thriving churches, many of whom were founded by Paul, long before Paul's death around 60-68AD.

The reason for this spread? Quite simply, unlike the pagan religions of the Greeks and Romans, or the prescriptive and vindictive form of Judaism that had developed, the message of Jesus Christ was one of love. People heard the story of this God-man from Israel, who had been prophesised about hundreds of years before. They heard of his message of love for all. They heard of his miracles; they heard of his authoritative teaching; they heard of his compassion for the poor and oppressed; they heard of his astonishing claims to be God in human form. But most of all they heard of the nature of his death, but were astonished by the victory of his resurrection. By accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and following his way, their lives became changed for ever. They were so utterly convinced by the mission of this one man that many were willing to go to their own deaths in the Roman arenas rather than deny him. Such was the influence of this one man who was described as 'not particularly spectacular' above.

Moreover, the three year mission of this God/man and the Holy Spirit of this resurrected Christ continues to draw people to him today. Whilst the church is in decline in some pockets of the world where some arrogant types think they know better, throughout the world the church continues to grow astronomically. In South Korea, as an example, one church (the Yoido Full Gospel Church) has grown from 6 members in the 1960s to a congregation of nearly 900,000 today who meet in a vast hall in several sittings. In China, an estimated 5000 Christians in the 1960s has grown to an estimated 100 million today, and the church is still growing, despite much persecution. You simply cannot thank the Roman Empire for growth like that!

As stated in the first sentence, this one man, Jesus Christ has influenced more people than any other in history. More people throughout history have given their lives to following this humble carpenter from Nazareth than any other.

As the prose 'One Solitary Life' states (which is anonymous):

"Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty and then for three years was an itinerant preacher. He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never put his foot inside a big city. He never traveled more than two hundred miles from the place where He was born. He never did one of those things that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but himself….

"While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against him. His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed on a cross between two thieves. While he was dying his executors gambled for the only piece of property he had on earth - His coat. When he was dead, He was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.

"Over nineteen long centuries have come and gone and today He is the centerpiece of the human race and the leader of the column of progress. I am far within the mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever were built, all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of humanity upon this earth as powerfully as has that one solitary life."

That is why Jesus is special.

Muslims, Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians (and perhaps some other faiths with which I am not conversant) believe that there is one universal God and certainly for Muslims, Christians, Jews this is the SAME god.

Thus if there is just one God, by definition, that God is unique.
