Robert Gould Shaw Was famous for being one of the leaders to help win the civil war.
Ya but not only that but it was because he was in charge of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry... It was the first regiment that was all African Americans. They all wanted to fight. Shaw finally figured out that the person making all the decisions was planning to only use them for labor. So Shaw kind of blackmailed him so that they would be able to fight. They got to lead the attack on fort Wagner, which ultimately failed and Shaw died because he got shot by one of the confederates.
