The reason why they fought each other is because Texas wanted to be independent from Mexico, because most of the Texans were Americans that moved. They revolted because Mexico only allowed them to be Catholic, and most of the settlers were Protestant.

Texas settlers did NOT write the Declaration of Independence. Texas was settled in 1840 and became a state in 1846 while the Declaration was written by Jefferson in 1776. That is over 60 years later. Texas didn't exist in 1776.
