they got guns and spices (which turned out to be plants that we tend to call weed now. it was used as healing herbs apparently.)

The fall of the Roman empire
Rome gained control of the western Mediterranean.
The areas of the western part of the Roman Empire was divided into kingdoms by its invaders: the Kingdom of the Vandals in Tunisia and western Algeria, the Kingdom of the Visigoths in Spain and Portugal, The Kingdom of the Burgundians in eastern France and the kingdom of the Franks in the rest of France.
Once they had conquered villages and other cities, they had to deal with the war slaves and had to give them jobs. Because they had to give the slaves jobs, that took away jobs for the native Romans. Also, once a military ruler had conquered large areas of land, they kept wanting to expand and conquer. They became very power hungry and blood thirsty. Thus creating emperors and dictators. This is how you spell Romains, wait no, Romans: R-O-M-A-N-S
The fall of the western part of the Roman Empire did not directly lead to feudalism. It emerged some 350 years after the fall of this part of this empire. He was a result of the continuous warfare which characterised the Carolingian Empire (800-843).

Diocletian's successors continued his policy of State control of the empire's economy. His division of the empire into two parts helped set up the long existence of the Byzantine empire in the East. In the long run however, Diocletian's reforms, slowed down, but could not prevent the western half of the empire to survive.
It temporarily gave all males withing the Empire citizenship status, but also opened the door for serfdom, and the influx of Germanic peoples who took over the Western Empire, rather like the influx of migrants into Europe today.
The term decline and fall of the empire is used because the empire begun to decline centuries before it actually fell. There was a decline in the economy of the empire with a big reduction in the volume of trade and the collapse of the urban economy. There was also a decline in the ability of the empire to defend itself from attacks from outside. The fall of the Western Roman Empire (the western part of the empire) was quite quick and occurred as a result of the Germanic invasions. These Germanic peoples took over most of the lands of the west. The eastern Roman Empire (the eastern part of the empire) was not affected by these invasions and continued to exist for another 1,000 years.
The Battle of Mivian Bridge led to a victory for Constantine. This gave the leader control of the Western portion of the Roman Empire and Christianity spread as a result.
