John Lennon had stated that he loved music by The Shirelles, Little Richard, Ben E. King and Chuck Berry along with a variety of Gospel Music. He also mentioned that he loved Here, There, and Everywhere.
Lennon, who was notoriously dismissive of most of his work, considered "A Day in the Life" and "In My Life" (whose melody was actually Paul McCartney's work) among his best songs. He also expressed a fondness for "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds", "Across The Universe" and "Come Together".
It probably changed through his life, but in an interview after the break up of The Beatles, he said that Hey Jude was special to him because he thought that Paul was telling him it was okay to marry Yoko - the song includes the line "go out and get her."
