All you have to do is look in any History book and you will find your answer, but by today's standards I'd say that life today is a heck of a lot better than it was in 1776. They didn't have telephones, heating was probably of wood as there were no furnaces back in those days. Doctors weren't as advanced as they are today and a lot of people died because the Science of today didn't exist back in 1776.

OK NO! things were bad but that doesn't answer his question.

It all depends on where you talk about, they all different. EX. New England, Middle, South, all 100% diff.

People were much more self-sufficient than the English, and had more skills than the British did. The Revolutionary War was about to start (1775 is when it officially started) and there were many protests on taxation without representation. This is pretty much what was happening, but all in all, America was a lot more simple and more behind in the development of technology.
