It was most often a benign learning experience, filled with new ideas, new concepts, and new philosophies and theories. It was also a time of gross fatality as Old World diseases were introduced to the Americas. Catastrophic demi plauges destroyed villages and clans. Measles, Chicken Pox, Small Pox, venereal diseaes destroyed entire populations. Many escaped by running Westward but carrying the European diseases with them only to destroy inland cultures.
