The British government was extremely upset with the colonies, specifically Massachusetts. In response, Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts, which:

  • Closed the Boston Port until the debt for all the tea that was dumped was paid for.
  • Reduced Massachusetts' right to self-government
  • Allowed British troops to quarter in any town in Massachusetts

The colonists resented the British government further and more revolutionaries as a result from both events.
