the shoshone were a poor group of Indians and would eat whatever they could find. when the captian meri Lewis killed a deer the shoshone took the guts and things they thought the captain wouldn't want, ate them raw and gave the good parts to the captains. the captains left it with them and only then they ate the good part if i remember correctly they gave the captains corn and beans but the captains turned it down because they were sick of corn and beans.
