Nieuport was the most common French fighter plane. It was produced in various models: 11, 17 and 28. SPAD was also a famous French fighter that was a very good and solid airplane. The main versions were the Model VII and XIII and a two-seat Model XI. Also, another of my favorite French-built fighter was the Hanroit HD-1. The French government did not purchase any but Belgium, Italy and USA did.
There were many French fighter aircraft, the most common were: Nieuport 11, Nieuport 17, Nieuport 24, Nieuport 28, Spad VII, and the Spad XIII. These aircraft were used by the French, the British, and the Americans. Additionally the British made & used their own aircraft as well. American pilots flew mostly the French made aircraft.
Hmm. Not sure what you are asking. A plane is usually known by the manufacturer who built it. One name was a Sopwith. But there were many different models built by Sopwith. One was named "Camel" because of the hump on its "back". One was named "Snipe", a type of bird. Others were named according to their construction: "One-and-a-Half Strutter" and "Tri-plane". Most WW1 airplanes were known that their model number such as Fokker D-VII. It didn't really have a name. Hope this helps.

The Zero was a type of Japanese fighter plane, the Mitsubishi A6-M. It was fast and nimble, and heavily armed. At the start of the war it was better than the fighter planes the Allies had. But, it lacked any armor for the pilot or self-sealing fuel tanks, which made it vulnerable. By the end of the war the newer Allied fighter planes were better than the Zero.
