World War 2 was a military war when Nazi controlled Germany went on a campaign of conquest in Europe. Nazi Germany allied with Fascist Mousolini lead Italy, and Japan as the Axis powers with the primary Allied forces consisting of Great Britian, French Resistance, Russia (Soviet Union), and partisan forces.

The primary activties were:

European Campaign (Britian, France, Germany, Soviet Union). This became a war of Two Fronts for Germany with Allies on the Western Front and Soviet forces on the eastern front. The European campaign started technically with the invasion of Poland and the "Beginning of the End" is usually credited with the D-Day invasion of Normandy. In addition the attempted conquest of Soviet territory largely debilitated the German army due to poor preparation for the harsh winter.

African Campaign (Allied Forces under Patton and German Forces under Rommel) Largely overlooked an active campaign in North Africa was underway.

Pacific Campaign (USA vs Japan) A complex series of island and navel battles between Adminral Yamamoto and the US Navy.

China Mainland Incursion: Japan in an attempt for a land grab invaded China. Some of the largest civilian casualties occured in China along with Nazi concentration camps resulted in the largest Civilan casualities in recorded history. Another often overlooked portion of the war.
