See Wikipedia for details. The last two built were the Richelieu and the Jean Bart. The Jean Bart was launched and undergoing completion at the time that Germany invaded France in May 1940. It was sent to Casablanca (under Vichy French control), where in November 1942 it opposed the Allied landings and was damaged by American shellfire & aerial bombing. Then it became part of the Free French forces, however it remained unrepaired and incomplete for many years after the war.
The Richelieu was operational during the German invasion of France and eventually joined the Free French forces. It served as a combat ready Allied Battleship through the end of the war. Was present at Tokyo Harbor for the Japanese Surrender Ceremony Sept 1945.
