Best Answer

The Mecklenburg resolves were a list of statements that were adopted in mecklenburg county(North Carolina). This was just weeks, about a month after the battles in Concord and Lexington which were known to be the beginning of the war for american independence from the british. The Mecklenburg Resolves were said to have declared independence from Britain in the state of North Carolina, making NC the first to declare independence or take any action related to that but the papers are said to have burned in 1800 in a fire and there is a lack of evidence so no one knows for sure it what's being said is true.

The Mecklenburg Resolves were a series of resolutions passed on May 31, 1775, by the citizens of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, which declared their independence from British rule. While some historians doubt the authenticity of the document, it is seen as an early expression of American sentiment for independence.
