The purpose of the New Jersey Plan is to thoroughly change the Articles of Confederation.
The new jersey plan most resembles the articles of confederation.
"We, the people of the United States", refers to the the citizens of the new country to be formed by the constitution. "in order to from a more perfect union" introduces the purpose of the new constitution which was to replace the articles of confederation which previously drew up the government for the united colonies. The idea was to improve the old agreement and spell out the powers of the federal government as opposed to the powers of the individual states.

Upon Confederation in 1867, Canada was adopted as the legal name for the new country, and the word Dominion was conferred as the country's title. However, as Canada asserted its political autonomy from the United Kingdom, the federal government increasingly used simply Canada on state documents and treaties.
