This question assumes there was one Christian religion, and was probably asked seeking the answer that this was the Catholic Church.

There was no single Christian religion. The Church has always been divided both by organization and by belief. There have always been Churches that were orthodox but not part of the Catholic Church, including the Coptic Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Celtic Christian Churches. There have also always been strong heterodox or heretical sects, such as the Arians, Albigensians, Waldensians, Lollards, and Hussites. And, after 1054, the Eastern Parts of Europe were dominated by the Eastern Orthodox Church, which split from the Roman Catholic Church.

In parts of Europe that had been in the Roman Empire, Christianity was the main religion when the Middle Ages started. This included areas now in Britain, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Romania, and so on. It also included some places, such as Ireland, that were not part of the Roman Empire.

Christianity spread northward and eastward as the Middle Ages went on, arriving at new places progressively as time passed. Nearly the entirety of Europe was Christian by the 14th century.

well, during the middle age only Paganism was the most widespread religion.Although Christianity was practiced in the early parts of Greece, Rome and Germany. Later the Roman king Constantine declared his official religion as Christianity and thus formed the strong base for the modern testimony. Only the central and eastern Europe had Christianity which later replaced the Paganism all over the world. Every Pagan was inducted with the idea of Christianity thus dragging in people under the name and fame of Christ. Think you might have had question fulfilled. Have a nice day......
