The French were forced to withdraw and release their hold on their former colony. Vietnam was divided between North and South, with a plebiscite to decide on its form of government to be held. The US prevented that vote from being taken.
The North Vietnamese (Communists under Ho Chi Minh) were victorious. American-led forces withdrew from Vietnam. Communist governments took power in Laos and Cambodia. South Vietnam was annexed to North Vietnam and the country was unified under the Communist government of Vietnam.
None. The US is not at war with Iraq. In Vietnam, the US was at war with North Vietnam.
Traditionally, France hasn't won that many wars (Napoleon excepted). Traditionally, the US has won all of theirs. Therefore, we went to Vietnam.
One key difference between the Vietnam War and the wars of today is the nature of the conflict. The Vietnam War was a conventional war fought between two nations, whereas the wars today are primarily asymmetrical, involving non-state actors and insurgent groups. Additionally, the Vietnam War was marked by widespread public opposition and protests, which is not as prevalent in the wars of today.
The cold war led to the Vietnam War; the outcome was also because of the cold war. Another words, had there NOT BEEN a cold war (which was created by the atomic bomb); the Vietnam War would have been fought normally/traditionally...with everything the US had (presuming nukes DID NOT exist) and the North would've been invaded...as in ALL US WARS previously.
France owned Vietnam until they pulled out in the 1950's, and the US stepped in. After that, Vietnam was divided like Korea into Communist North and non-Communist South, but North Vietnam never accepted the division and always considered South Vietnam as the part of Vietnam occupied by the enemy.
No country currently, but France use to rule it and then Japan did, however, after the World Wars, Vietnam successfully fought off France.
