The cause was the mere presence of Native Americans in the colony and the failure of the British government to provide adequate protection from these marauders. This resulted in the Governor being removed from office by Charles II, the slaves being placed on tighter restrictions since they and free blacks had supported the rebellion and the virtual removal of the Native-Americans from the colony.

Causes: Indians intruding on colonists land and the increasing power of the large farmers overtake small farmers so Bacon uses their anger towards that to rebel.

Results: Many of the small farmers are indentured servants and the large farmers no longer want to hire indentured servants for fear of rebellion again so they invest in black slaves - thus the eventual increase of slavery is caused by this rebellion.

The poverty and discontent of many single young men unable to acquire land.
