To learn Actually, at the age of 16 most kids go to rhetoric schools because they plan to be orators when they grow up. Apparently orators were very needed at that time. They basically go to school to socialize and learn basic survival skills. Learn their grammar, how to read, write, etc.

∙ 9y agoFor the rich who could afford a good education the purpose was to have the level of education needed to become political and/or social leaders and handle legislation and complex issues. The propose of the education of children form poor families was for them to reach decent levels of literacy and numeracy.

∙ 8y agoThe aim of Roman law was the aim of most laws: to establish rules regarding civil matters (property, inheritance, marriage, contracts, litigation, etc) and administration and to set out definitions of crime and its punishments. Roman law was based on the principles that Roman citizens had rights and that the law was equal for everybody and that no one was above the law.
