Australia's relationship was basically a business relationship excepting for the refugees coming after the Vietnam War. the Australian populace mostly did not like the refugees, but the government allowed them and spent more time and money on them than on aust citizens. This caused australians to be displaced from employment as refugees would work for a lot less - sort of like how the Americans blame the Mexicans for all their labor problems
