We were enemies... Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7th, 1942 and our President at the time, Franklin D Roosevelt declared war on them. Before that we (America) were trying to stay out of the war, but we were sending planes to our allie China in efforts to push back the Japanese, whom were attempting to invade South Asia and the Pacific. ~ Lucas
