Most of the people living in and around were pagans and idol worshipers before Islam. The Jews and the Christians also lived in Arabia. Islam literally means peace. Technically it means complete surrender to the Will and Commands of Almighty God. It is the religion or guidance provided to human race by its Creator, Almighty God. About 1,25,000 Prophets (May peace be upon them all) preached Islam. The last Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) was born in Arabia in 570 AD. He started preaching Islam in 610 AD when he received the command of Almighty God to preach Islam. In fact, Islam is the continuation of Judaism and Christianity and the most up-dated form of heavenly religion.

∙ 9y agoThere was not a single religion in Arabia prior to Muhammad; there were dozens of religions. There were several distinct Jewish sects, several distinct Christian Heretical sects (such as Ebionites, Nestorians, Justinians, etc.), there were the Hanifs (Arabian monotheists), there were henotheists (people who believed in multiple gods with one supreme god) such as the Zoroastrians, Manichaeans, Hubalists, and Rahmanists, among several other such religions. There were also various categories of polytheism.
