This was the most important duty for German women at the time, but also they were presured into also looking the part. They had to be athletic to help keep their hips broad (going back to the children point), they didn't want the women to wear make-up and all skirts had to be full length.
However, Germany desperatly needed workers, all the men had gone to war and Germany needed weapons to be made (money) and so, the Nazis needed the women to once again get jobs as well as being mothers to many children (Nazis also gave medals to women with the most children, 4=bronze, 6=silver, 8=gold)!
Women in Germany worked in offices and factories. Some even worked as prision guards. Some were nurses. Others raised children.
Women started to work in the mans jobs and tasted the first tast of time out of the house.

Prior to World War 2 a woman's role was predominantly as a homemaker but the war left a shortage of industrial workers so the women stepped in and filled the vacancies. This role reversal was necessary for our nations survival and a pivotal moment in history.
Women roles- Men were seen as the masters. Women were seen as the house guardians. A woman's world was her family. Women with children received an Honor Cross of Germany. Childless women were seen as inferior. They weren't allowed to be political, intellectual, listen to music, dance, smoke, or drink tea.
