The climate during the Pleistocene epoch was extremely cold. More than 30% of the world was covered in ice sheets. The Pleistocene is the time period where the last ice age happened so you can predict there were many glaciers and not very many plants. So the climate was ice cold. It was much colder than it is today.

The Pleistocene epoch had numerous warming and cooling periods within it. General climate is hard to ascertain. The Pleistocene stages continuously change names and now Marine Isotope Stages are used to adequately show the general climate. Compared to today, MIS 11. (Pre-Illinoian--Illinoian periods) at 420,000 to 360,000 years ago is warmest in the past 500,000 years and was as warm as today (MIS 1). The mid-Sangamonian stage (MIS 5b and 5d) had mild temperatures similar to that of 11,000 years ago according to Denis A. Onge, Geological Survey of Canada.

The Older Dryas, a severe cold period, spans the period from c.10 000 bc down to c.9800 bc in northern Europe. (Answers.com)
